YMCA Expands Food It’s Summer Food Service Program
The YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina is expanding its Summer Food Service Program for 2025 to provide free weekly meal boxes to children 18 and under across rural communities. Running from May through August, the program offers boxes with seven days’ worth of USDA-compliant breakfasts and lunches. Following the distribution of over 54,000 meals in 2024, this year’s initiative adds two new sites in Brunswick County and one in Harnett County. In Brunswick County, meals will be available every Friday at locations in Bolivia, Southport, and Shallotte. For details visit wwaytv3.com.

Body Identified in Submerged Car in Supply
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol has identified 67-year-old Terry Fronczak of Bolivia as the driver who crashed into the Lockwood Folly River on May 26. Authorities believe the crash may have been caused by a medical issue, though the exact cause is still under investigation.
Fronczak's vehicle left the road, hit an embankment, and became completely submerged in the river around 3:38 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.
Multiple agencies, including the Brunswick County Dive Team and local EMS, responded and worked for hours to recover the vehicle and body. The crash temporarily shut down traffic in both directions on Route 211 at the Lockwood Folly River Bridge, but the road has since reopened. Read the full story at wect.com.
