THE NEWS
MacKenzie Gore, Whiteville Native, Sets Strikeout Record on Opening Day
13 turned out to be a lucky number for Whiteville native Mackenzie Gore. On Thursday, March 27th, opening day for Major League Baseball, Gore pitched 13 strikeouts and no walks. He joined hall-of-famer Bob Gibson as the only pitcher to achieve such.
However, they lost to the Phillies in a 7-3 game. Read more at MLB.com.
Bolivia Woman Has Another Annual Tea Party for Breast Cancer Awareness
WWAY had a great story about a breast cancer survivor who throws a tea party, complete with scones and sandwiches. New to this year, the Novant Mobile Mammography unit. Unfortunately, tickets are sold out. (Perhaps some survivors in the Leland Area may want to start their own annual tradition?)
Sunset Beach Says No Parking “Down on Main Street”
Bob Seger would not approve… Sunset Beach paid parking begins Tuesday, April 1st but Sunset Beach town council banned any parking on Main Street earlier this month. Below is a parking map. Click here for a higher-resolution map.
