Daughter of NAL Flight 2511 Victims Leads Effort to Build Memorial in Bolivia 65 Years Later

Sixty-five years after the crash of National Airlines Flight 2511, Linda Silver Bufano—the daughter of two victims—is working to create a memorial at the Bolivia Fire Department in Brunswick County. The 1960 explosion, believed to have been caused by a passenger’s dynamite, claimed 34 lives, including Bufano’s parents. Now, with funds raised for the project, Bufano hopes the memorial will transform the crash site’s painful history into a place of peace and remembrance. The tribute is planned to be unveiled on January 6, 2026. (WECT)
