Chadbourn Family Suffers Flood From Chantal’s Rains

Tropical Storm Chantal brought tornadoes and severe flooding to the Carolinas, leaving some Chadbourn residents, like the Floyd family, with water up to their waists in their front yards and a foot of water under their home. The flooding destroyed their HVAC system—something they’ve already had to replace multiple times due to similar storms in 2016, 2023, and 2024. The family blames inadequate town drainage and is calling for improvements like expanding the culvert system and clearing ditches and swamps. Despite reaching out to the state, they say no action has been taken, leaving them to continue dealing with the recurring damage. (WECT)
