John Legend is Coming To Live Oak Bank Pavilion This October
Whenever a Legend comes to the area, we talk about it, right? The singer will start his “Get Lifted 20th Anniversary World Tour” on May 27th. North America presales begin Wednesday, March 26, followed by general on-sale Friday, March 28. The show in Wilmington will be on Wednesday, October 29th.
Taxes on Taxis and Ubers and Lyfts and Whatever Comes Next
The North Carolina Department of Revenue will begin administering the “Transportation Commerce Tax” starting July 1st. Rates will be 1.5% for exclusive-ride services and 1.0% for shared-ride services.
Bear Cubs - Be on the Lookout
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission wants to remind you that spring is only a few days away and that means bears will be coming out of their dens - with cubs! If you see a bear cub while enjoying nature you should remain calm and leave the area quickly and quietly. It is against the law to capture or keep the bear cub. Also, please don’t take selfies with the bears…
Star Party Coming Saturday, April 5th to Ingram Planetarium
The 13th annual North Carolina statewide star party will be held at 42 various sites around the state. The closest are at Ingram Planetarium located at 7625 High Market Street in Sunset Beach AND at the Carolina Beach State Park located at 1010 State Park Road.
The Ingram Planetarium will have telescopes on the front sidewalk to look at planets, the moon, and more. There will also be exhibits in the science hall as well. It will be held from 6:30pm to 9pm.
The Cape Fear Museum, Carolina Beach State Park and the Cape Fear Astronomical Society will have guided skywatching sessions, the Stellar Story Corner, our astronaut photo station, telescope and binocular viewings, stargazing tips from the experts, food trucks from local vendors and more. It will be held from 7pm to 10pm.
WHAT’S HAPPENIN’
“Keeping It Country” to Perform Live at The Gio Fund Event Center
“Keeping It Country” will perform live at the Gio Fund event center from 6pm to 8pm and the bar will open at 5pm. It is located at 17 Village Road, Unit E.
“Lend a Hand In Leland”
Various projects will be going on around Leland this Saturday from 8am to 11am. There will be stream cleanup, trash pickup, tree planting and Walk Audit. For more information and to volunteer (registration required) visit the Town of Leland website.
