Brunswick County Drops Lawsuit Against Water Treatment Plant Contractor

Brunswick County has dropped its lawsuit against Oscar Renda Construction and its insurers over delays at the Northwest Water Treatment Plant. The county had alleged the contractor breached its contract by missing deadlines, as the project originally slated for completion in December 2023 has been repeatedly delayed. A new schedule is being developed, with additional oversight now in place, though the \$167.3 million project cost remains unchanged. The county still reserves the right to deduct liquidated damages due to the delays. (WECT)

Town Hall Drive to Remain Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Seeks Help Locating Missing Man

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating 21-year-old Ian Miles. He is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall with blue eyes and was last seen in Southport driving a 2016 white Mitsubishi Outlander with North Carolina license plate LJZ-8119. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 910-253-2777 or call 911. (Facebook)

When to Stop for a School Bus

Essentially - it’s easier to remember when to NOT stop for a bus. If the road is 4 lanes with a median or turning lane and you are in the opposite direction of the bus. In all other cases - stop. Over in New Hanover County - 100 cars illegally passed stop busses in one day. (WECT)

Elvis Experience Tomorrow Night

The Gio Fund in Leland will host An Elvis Experience on Friday at 6 p.m., offering a lively recreation of Elvis in concert. Doors open at 5 p.m., with food available for purchase and no outside food or drinks allowed. Tickets cost $15 online or $20 at the door, while supplies last.

Highly Motivated Band at Brunswick Beer XChange Tomorrow Night

Tomorrow at 6pm BBX will have the Highly Motivated Band and the Coastl523 Food Truck. BBX is located at 113 Village Road in Leland.
