New Firetruck for Town of Leland to Get Dedicated

Truck 51 - Leland’s Newest - To Be Dedicated Soon

The Town of Leland will host a Push-In Ceremony on Thursday, June 12, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Fire Station 51 to celebrate the arrival of Leland Fire/Rescue’s new state-of-the-art ladder truck. This Tractor Drawn Aerial (TDA) truck, or tiller, enhances the Town’s emergency response by combining the functions of two older vehicles into one efficient unit.

The community is invited to participate in the century-old fire service tradition of symbolically pushing the truck into the station. The event will also include station tours, light refreshments, and opportunities for kids to explore the truck’s features.

Mayor Brenda Bozeman highlighted the truck as a crucial investment in public safety. Staff trained for over 1,300 hours, and the truck officially went into service in April, eliminating delays previously caused by switching vehicles during emergencies.

Leland Road Closure Today and Tomorrow

Fairview Rd - To be Closed Between Belvedere and Wedgewood today and tomorrow 7am to 7pm

From the Town of Leland Facebook Page: A portion of Fairview Road between Belvedere Court and Wedgewood Drive is expected to be closed Thursday and Friday, May 22 and 23, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for utility work. Detour signs will be posted. Please drive carefully in this area.

Trivia Night at Brunswick Beer XChange

Every Thursday, starting at 7pm, BBX will have trivia with food trucks. There will be prizes for first and second place. Brunswick Beer XChange is located at 113 Village Road in Leland.

Two Picky Guys at Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar

Tomorrow night, starting at 6pm, Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar will host Two Picky Guys. Two Picky Guys feature old and new blues, rock, Americana, ragtime, bluegrass, a few original tunes, crafted in creative acoustic presentations.

Shuckin’ Shack is located at 1175 Turlington Ave, Suite 101.
