Oak Island Has a “Mud Buster”?

Firefighters in Oak Island are using a tool called the "Mud Buster" to rescue people stuck in mud. The device is a small hose that sprays water to loosen the mud around a trapped person's leg, making it easier to pull them out. It has already been used successfully in a rescue. Fire Chief Lee Price warns that getting stuck during low tide can be life-threatening due to rising water levels, and advises people not to move too much if trapped, as it could make them sink deeper. NC Highway Patrol to Move into Belville Town Hall Building

New Belville Town Hall Location

The Town of Belville is relocating its town hall to 497 Olde Waterford Way, Suite 200, above New Day Cafe in the Waterford Village Shoppes on Highway 17. The move is prompted by the North Carolina Highway Patrol’s purchase of the current building to support regional operations. Mayor Mike Allen expressed support for the change and thanked the community for its patience. Town hall operations will continue at the current location until the move is completed in the coming weeks. Read more at wect.com.

Shallotte Officers Get Honor After Saving Drowning Child

Two Shallotte police officers, Sergeant Jeremy Ferguson and Officer Christopher Brown, received the Life Saving Award for rescuing a young girl from drowning. During a Board of Aldermen meeting, they were honored for their response to an alarm at the Cardinal Pointe Clubhouse. A bystander alerted them to an unresponsive child in the pool. Officer Brown pulled her out, while Sergeant Ferguson checked for a pulse and called EMS. Brown performed CPR, and after about three minutes, the child began breathing on her own. Their swift actions were credited with saving her life.
