THE NEWS
Town of Leland to Host Eggspedition on Saturday April 12th.
Coming Saturday, April 12th from 10 am to 1 pm, the Town of Leland will host Eggspedition! There will be egg hunts for kids ages 1 to 10 starting every 45 minutes.
There will be a “Bunny Trail” as well with different “campsites” where kids can touch a firetruck, get fairy hair and get even more candy!
There’s also a call for volunteers! Get the rest of the detail at the Town of Leland website.

According to NC State Researcher, There’s PFAS in the Sea Foam
NC State researcher, Jeffrey Enders, shared the results of samples take from 13 locations across the immediate area and found a large amount of PFOS compounds (PFOS is a type of PFAS).
The highest concentration was found near Sea Breeze at Carolina Beach, measuring 800,000 nanograms per liter (ng/L). That’s the highest PFOS concentration ever documented in sea foam.

Green Hill Road in Bolivia to Temporarily Close Monday
A crosspipe is being replaced on Green Hill Road starting Monday and should re-open on April 3rd. For more info - visit ncdot.gov.
WHAT’S HAPPENIN’
The Town of Leland Hosting “Clay-on Saturdays” starting this weekend.
This 3-week program explores the joys of creating with clay using hand-building methods such as pinch, coil, and slab construction techniques. The program includes discussions on mindfulness and texture inspired by the world around us. Participants will learn relevant vocabulary and proper hand-building techniques.
Age groups are:
6-10: 10AM-11AM
11-13: 11AM-12PM
14-17: 12PM-1PM

Learn How to Watch Frogs
This free volunteer training workshop includes fun and educational lessons in identifying local frog and toad species by their calls, understanding the conservation issues that amphibians face, and practicing the FrogWatch USA protocols to collect data for citizen science.
This training is for adults, though youth ages 10 and up are welcome with an adult who will also complete the training.
Upon completion of both sessions, participants will be recognized as FrogWatch USA volunteers. The second session will provide volunteers the opportunity to practice FrogWatch protocols and complete a knowledge assessment.
There is no fee to participate in the training sessions or to become a FrogWatch volunteer, however, registration is required. Registration for the first session automatically registers participants in the second session.
The 2025 trainings will be offered at the following locations at different dates and times:
March 29 & April 5 - in partnership with the Town of Leland Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources
March 29 (10:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
April 5 (10:00 AM - 1:00 PM)
There will be other class opportunities, including a May class in Winnabow.
