Six Arrested, Over $508,000 in Stolen Property Recovered in Brunswick County Theft Bust

Stolen Items Recovered by the BCSO
Six people have been arrested in Brunswick County after deputies recovered more than $508,000 worth of stolen property linked to a series of thefts. The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office says investigators filed 104 total charges and returned much of the stolen property to its rightful owners.
Those charged include Johnnie Ray Ison (32), Randy William Hill (42), and Alex Kade Malpass (32), all of Leland, who face multiple counts of motor vehicle theft, felony larceny, and breaking and entering. Alexander Robbins (59) of Leland was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, Beautry Pollard (81) of Chappell Loop Road was charged with receiving stolen goods, and Tyler James Rosak (21) of Wilmington faces several larceny charges.
Sheriff Brian Chism credited the Criminal Investigations Unit for its extensive work tracking and recovering stolen property and said additional arrests are expected. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office. (WECT)
Brunswick County Offering Walk-In Flu Shot Clinics Throughout October
Brunswick County Health Services is offering walk-in flu vaccines through Oct. 31 for residents six months and older, with a high-dose option for those 65 and up. No appointment is needed. The clinic is open weekdays from 9–11:45 a.m. and 1–4 p.m. at 25 Courthouse Drive NE (Building A), Bolivia. Participants should bring a photo ID and insurance card; Medicare, insurance, cash, and checks are accepted. County officials emphasize that getting vaccinated is one of the best ways to prevent serious flu-related illness. For more information, call 910-253-2250. (WECT)
Belville is Having a “Monster Mash and Trunk or Treat” and Still Needs Trunks!
The Belville Parks and Recreation is hosing its 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat at the Belville Riverwalk Park Friday, October 24th from 5pm to 7pm. There will be music, a costume contest, and more! They are still looking for trunk hosts, however! There are still 20 openings available. To register to become a host - click here.

Brunswick Beer and Cider 3-Year Anniversary Celebration
Brunswick Beer and Cider in Leland is celebrating its three-year anniversary with a day of festivities at 1313 Dickinson Dr. The event will feature a vendor market hosted by The Wave Market, drink and merchandise specials, giveaways, and a live performance by Fire NC Band from 5–8 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and pop-up tents to enjoy the celebration.
Dog Adoption Event Tomorrow
Hamilton’s Healing Hearts will host a Fall Festival and Adoption Event at Petsense Leland (1215 W Gate Dr.) on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature over 40 vendors, local food and drinks, music, raffles, games, and costume fun for kids and pets. Attendees can meet adoptable dogs looking for forever homes and enjoy a day of community fun and fall festivities.
Cancer Benefit Tomorrow at Shuckin’ Shack
Shuckin' Shack’s Fresh & Raw Tour, presented with Truist, is coming to Leland on Saturday, Oct. 11, for a free community event benefiting Blood Cancer United (formerly The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society). The event will feature Nashville country artists Sammy Arriaga and Josiah Siska performing from 5–7 p.m., followed by local favorite Miles Atlas from 7–10 p.m. Attendees can enjoy live music, raffles, and “Shuck Off Cancer” apparel, with all proceeds supporting local blood cancer patients. Shuckin’ Shack is located at 1175 Turlington Ave in Leland.
