Brunswick Sheriff’s Charitable Foundation Hosts 13th Annual “Diamonds and Denim” Ball
The Brunswick Sheriff’s Charitable Foundation, Inc. (BSCF) held its 13th annual “Diamonds and Denim” charity ball on March 7th, raising significant funds for local organizations. Last week, BSCF presented checks totaling $34,000 to New Hope Clinic and Power Walking Ministries, the two nonprofit beneficiaries of this year’s event.
Founded in 2012, BSCF is committed to enhancing the quality of life for all citizens of Brunswick County by supporting impactful programs through permanent charitable capital.

Clayton Homes Gives Grant to Family Promise of LCF
Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear has received a $20,000 grant from Clayton Homes to support families in New Hanover, Brunswick, and Pender Counties. The funding is part of a $1.5 million initiative by Clayton to aid the Family Promise national network in preventing homelessness.
“This partnership helps us keep families safely housed and focused on stability,” said Interim Executive Director Angie Hill.

Lee Electric Truck’s Trailer Claims Life
A fatal crash on N.C. 211 in Brunswick County Tuesday night claimed the life of 63-year-old George Maskara Jr. of Bolivia. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a trailer carrying an excavator detached from a westbound Lee Electric truck and struck Maskara’s eastbound Chevrolet Trailblazer. The truck's driver, 20-year-old Cody Frabotta of Wilmington, has been charged with misdemeanor death. The investigation is ongoing.
