Brunswick Beer and Cider to Host ‘Applearchy’ Cider Festival

Brunswick Beer and Cider will host its third annual “Applearchy” cider festival on Nov. 1 in Leland. The event will feature a variety of ciders from Eastern and Northern regions, fruit beers, live music, local vendors, a farmers’ market, and desserts. Tickets start at $35 and include a 5-ounce glass for unlimited responsible sampling. (WECT)

Pickleball Tournament and Alzheimer’s Awareness Fundraiser Coming to Leland

Comfort Keepers of Wilmington will host its second annual Pickleball Tournament and Fundraiser on Oct. 18 from 4–8 p.m. at The House of Pickleball in Leland. While registration is sold out, spectators can enjoy raffles, a food truck, and an awards ceremony. The event supports the 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s and Stop Alzheimer’s Now programs, benefiting Alzheimer’s research, treatment, and support services. Pro pickleball player Henry Boyle will attend, with organizers celebrating the community’s strong support and the event’s rapid growth. (WECT)

Pre-Orders Now Open for Southport Specialty License Plate

The City of Southport is accepting pre-orders for its official specialty license plate, available for North Carolina-registered non-commercial vehicles, including golf carts. Plates cost $30 for standard and $60 for customized versions. At least 500 pre-orders are required before state approval and production can begin. Residents can pre-order and pay by cash or check at Southport City Hall, 1029 N. Howe Street, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The application can be downloaded here.

Leland Releases Annual Revenue Manual to Enhance Transparency

The Town of Leland has released its updated Revenue Manual for fiscal year 2025–2026, detailing all budgeted revenue sources, including local taxes, fees, and state-shared funds. The manual categorizes revenues by general and restricted funds and highlights a projected increase in sales tax revenue, reflecting local growth and tourism. Designed to promote accountability and transparency, the manual supports the town’s 2030 Strategic Plan by giving residents a clear look at Leland’s financial health and revenue structure. Family Feud at Leland Brewing Company Tonight

Leland Brewing Company, located at 2115 Ale Avenue, will host a fun-filled Family Feud night, tonight, at 6:30 p.m. Guests can enjoy an evening of laughs, quick answers, and friendly competition. The event is free to play, with prizes for winners and plenty of cold drinks available. Attendees are encouraged to bring their friends and energy for a lively night out.

Trivia

Local’s Tavern, located at 1107 New Pointe Blvd, Leland, invites the community to Trivia Tuesday with Sherri, held every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Guests can enjoy an evening of fun questions, great food, and refreshing drinks while competing for prizes and bragging rights as trivia champions. Hosted by Sherri, the event promises plenty of laughs and a lively atmosphere. Mongay Night Poker at BBX

Brunswick Beer XChange (BBX), located at 113 Village Rd in Leland, hosts World Tavern Poker League every Monday with two games at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Players can join free, live poker tournaments to compete for points, prizes, and the chance to qualify for the Tavern, Regional, and National Championships, where over $100,000 in prizes are awarded annually.
