Garage Fire in Winnabow

Thursday morning at around 10:30 am multiple units responded to a structure in Winnabow, according to the Winnabow Volunteer Fire Department. No one was injured and it was quickly made safe by multiple units cooperating.

Local Researcher Says You Should Delete Your 23 and Me Data

WWAY spoke with a UNCW Professor about the recent 23 and Me bankruptcy. The advise given was to delete your data because it could be used for other purposes for which it was intended - like an insurance company raising your rates because of genetic conditions reveled in your data. DNA is not protected by HIPAA.

Goodbye Red Light Cameras

Wilmington, the last city to have red light cameras, will be turning them off soon. They 5-year contract that the city had will be allowed to expire. Not date was given for the official cut-off date. See the story at WWAY’s website.

“Two Picky Guys” Playing at the Shuckin’ Shack

The Shuckin’ Shack will have music this evening from 5pm to 8pm from “Two Picky Guys”.

About “Two Picky Guys”: "SpiderMIke" Bochey is a finger-pickin' blues guy. Bob Sarnataro blends in a flat pick. Together they crisscross a lot of boundaries. Old and new blues, rock, Americana, ragtime, bluegrass, a few original tunes, crafted in creative acoustic presentations.

Shuckin’ Shack is located at 1175 Turlington Ave Suite 101 in Leland.

The House of Pickleball to Host “March into Madness”

Saturday from 6pm to 9pm the House of Pickleball will have its March social. There will be opportunities to play against board members, learn from trainers and meet other players of the game. Court reservation is required. The price is $10.50.

The House of Pickleball is located at 115 Long Pine Drive in Leland.
